Landscape Architectural Service
Chermside is a bustling suburb which values community spirit and interaction. Brisbane City Council Chermside Community Hub is set to be an exciting new hub delivering a public library, local council offices and commercial office space for the local community.
Cactus and Hill seeks to create a hub which strengthens the local community and expresses the local culture. Through our unique design approach to Landscape Architectural Services, we aim to increase and maximise the number of people that enjoy using the space, where the local community stay longer.
Combining modernity, usability and elegance, the design strategy defines the arrival experience, creates an outdoor passive recreation space and improves streetscape comfort and appeal. The cohesive design maximises visual and physical access for all ages, whilst complementing the building’s striking architecture.
The arrangement of spaces, selection of materials, finishes and furniture was conducive to fostering community gathering and encouraging community interaction.
The planting design improves micro-climatic conditions, creating a comfortable environment where visitors can use spaces throughout different times of day and seasons. The design applies crime prevention through environmental design principles to create a safer environment.
The design creates a visually beautiful environment and we look forward to seeing this hub become a much loved community destination upon completion, which can adapt and provide for future growth.
