Landscape Architectural Services

Cactus and Hill operate primarily as a Brisbane Landscape Architect and extend to the South East Queensland area. In 2015 we were assigned to provide Landscape Architectural services for an exciting new multi residential development in the high demand suburb of Yeronga, on Brisbane’s west side.

A contemporary lux design language is showcased across the design, complimenting the architectural built form. The landscape design offers vertical relief, providing a melody of interesting plant foliage. The design contrasts texture and form within the space. However, a simple palette of hardscape materials demonstrates design restraint. Across the site the design included “soft edges” of planting, to blur the distinction between hardscape and soft-scape elements.

The Garden Lane way features lush planting and feature trees, complete with contemporary lighting and furniture to create space for small groups to enjoy outdoor dining and passive recreation. The decorative screen/fence and finer urban details provide separation between the communal space and the private courtyards. This generates a feeling of intimacy as well as establishing privacy. Identifying the constraints of a small communal space, through cohesive design and the integration of climbing plants the space feels enlarged.

Our team successfully met the client’s goal to promote use of the outdoor spaces and maximise the impact of the architectural built form, and importantly increasing the value of each property within this multi-residential development.
